The Benchwarmers puts Rob Schneider (Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo) front and center in a broad, juvenile comedy about a group of adult misfits who form a baseball team to take on kids who have been bullying the less athletic. Yes, it’s another Happy Madison Productions film loaded with crude jokes, cartoon logic, and a premise that dares you to meet it halfway. Audiences showed up for the slapstick and lowbrow humor, but does The Benchwarmers deliver dumb fun, or is it just dumb? Marjorie and Arnie step up to the plate to see whether this comedy has any heart under the stupidity, or if it strikes out swinging.
