Loosely inspired by an abandoned Jaws 5 concept involving a high-tech research facility, the finished film trades Amity for the isolated Aquatica station, where genetically engineered “smart sharks” decide they’re done being lab rats. Directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2) and starring Thomas Jane (The Punisher) and LL Cool J (Halloween H20), this entry embraces its B-movie premise with big effects, bigger speeches, and some unforgettable shark mayhem.
