This time, instead of retelling the original novel yet again, writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, along with director Rupert Wyatt, chose a different approach. They went back to the origins, reimagining how the apes first rose to power, a story last explored in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. The result, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was both a critical and box-office success, setting the stage for the then-upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
